Latest Version of Digital Nirvana’s Powerful Broadcast Monitoring System Now Available

SmartSearch, SmartAlerts, Variable Speed Playback, and Intuitive GUI Set it Apart from Other Monitoring Systems

Fremont, CA – Digital Nirvana announces shipment of Monitor IQ 4.0, the latest version of its broadcast monitoring software. Monitor IQ is an in-house logging and compliance monitoring solution for traditional broadcasting media. Version 4.0 made its debut at the NAB convention this past April in Las Vegas. It is available for download and will ship on new units as of July 15, 2014.

New features within Version 4.0 include: SmartSearch, SmartAlerts, transport
stream recording, variable speed speed playback, enhanced editing, and an Monitor IQ 4.0improved, easy-to-use user interface.

“With these new features, we’ve solidified Monitor IQ’s position as the smartest monitoring solution in the industry with the most rapid return on investment,” said Arco Groenenberg, director of sales and marketing for Broadcast Products, Digital Nirvana. “Based on our close customer relationships, we’ll keep pushing the envelope and bring more broadcast-centric functionality to Monitor IQ.”

The new SmartSearch feature is a highlight of Version 4.0 and sets Monitor IQ apart from other broadcast monitoring systems. With SmartSearch users can search by date, time, and channel as well as by key words in the close caption, alert reports, as-run and traffic logs.  Expression searches enable simultaneous keyword searches in the As Run log and closed captioning sections. Monitor IQ’s Boolean search capability makes it easier to define the search by adding AND, OR, + within search terms.  This allows the user to search for captions that contain two words, i.e. Clinton AND Obama.  The results are contained within a summary list with a hyperlink to the video content.

SmartAlerts, also new to Version 4.0, can be customized based upon the channel, time of day, duration, and choice of error such as a missing closed caption, loss of video or audio, loudness, etc. Users can set up custom profiles with specific preferences that, depending upon the application, are searchable by time, date and alarm profile.

The new variable speed playback option allows for playback at speeds such as Monitor IQ-Alarms2x, 4x, 1/2x, and -2x, for example. It enables faster operations during legal reviews, ad verification, content review and repurposing applications.

Enhanced editing provides the user the ability to produce frame-accurate cut clip edits. Users can produce cut-clips on live or previous recordings, which allows for quick turn around when repurposing and editing content.

Monitor IQ 4.0 Broadcast Monitoring System

Monitor IQ combines signal-monitoring, loudness monitoring, aircheck-logging, ad verification, competitive analysis and content repurposing and runs on Digital Nirvana’s Open Media Appliance – a highly scalable, industrial-grade server. The Open Media Appliance accepts multiple inputs including SD/HD SDI, ASI, ASI-IP, ATSC, QAM, 50 Hz, 60 Hz and DVB-TC/S2. It exports content in a wide range of file formats for content repurposing, including Flash, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H.264, and XDCAM.

Mosart helps broadcasters streamline their workflow, automating a number of TV production tasks through software. Vizrt continues to innovate, and with this acquisition we further strengthen our position as the dominant player in the broadcast software market.” stated Martin Burkhalter, Vizrt’s CEO.

“Mosart’s technology will enable us to simplify content production for our current and future customers. The proposed joining of forces will not just add products to our portfolio; it will also enable us to develop new integrated products and workflows that have the potential of being highly disruptive for the broadcast technology market. Integrating Mosart’s technology with Viz Engine, for instance, would offer the market a very powerful and efficient tv-in-a-box-solution,” stated Vizrt’s CTO Petter Ole Jakobsen.

In consideration for the purchase of 100% of the issued share capital of Mosart, VIZRT shall pay, at the closing of the transaction, an amount of NOK 105 million (approximately USD 17.6 million). In addition, the sellers have an earn-out mechanism should the revenues for the years 2013, 2014 and 2015 exceed certain thresholds.

As part of the transaction, TV2 Gruppen AS shall continue to be granted a license for Mosart’s software, in accordance with the current annual license fee charged by Mosart, of NOK 2.6 million per year for 7 years.

The indicative term sheet entered into is non-binding. The transaction is subject to a legal, financial, technical and operational due diligence review. Assuming the due diligence review is to Vizrt’s satisfaction, subject to board of directors’ approval, agreement on transaction documents, including a final share purchase agreement, and receipt of all required approvals, including regulatory approvals, the parties aim to conclude the transaction by December 31, 2013.

Fluent Rapid CG 3 Adds Support for Twitter, OES Scoreboard Data

Billerica, Massachusetts – August 13, 2013 – Broadcast Pix™ today announced the availability of its new Version 3.5 software, which adds a number of enhancements, including the cloud-based content access of its award-winning Flint™integrated production system, to its Mica™ and Granite™ systems. The company also announced the availability of Fluent Rapid CG™ 3, its most advanced tool for creating data-intensive CG graphics with automated database integration, and Fluent Rapid CG LT, a light version that can access RSS and Twitter feeds.

Demonstrated at InfoComm 2013 in June, V3.5 enables any Broadcast Pix system to run the optional new Fluent Rapid CG software and connect cloud-based U2312HM UltraSharp Monitorscontent and data directly to on-air graphics. Fluent Rapid CG LT lets the audience become part of the production by connecting to Twitter and other cloud-based data sources. RSS, clock, and weather feeds can flow directly into on-air graphics, and Tweets can flow directly to air or be pre-screened with a built-in management system. Plus, action buttons can now trigger multiple tags.

Fluent Rapid CG 3 includes all the LT features plus dual-channel connectivity to local and cloud-based content databases, news automation, and scoreboards. With cloud-based databases becoming common for sports, elections, and other applications, Rapid CG 3 allows sports scores in league databases to automatically flow into on-air graphics. It also adds support for OES Scoreboard data and Web-based XML databases.

Beyond automated graphics, V3.5 connects any system to any cloud-based resource for access to animations, clips, and databases during live productions. Using Fluent Watch-Folders, Broadcast Pix’s built-in ingest and content management system, V3.5 allows access to files from Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft SkyDrive Drive, or any cloud-based content resource, even during the middle of a live production. The system operator is alerted when a file arrives, the file’s thumbnail appears on the system monitor, and the file name appears on the control panel’s button.

Other V3.5 features include enhanced PixMaster file management software to view and manage file metadata, such as setting files to auto-start when taken into the live show. Plus, all 1 M/E control panels can now provide control for 2 M/E systems. The new software also delivers enhanced Sony camera control and advanced audio-follow-video functionality.

“Our version 3.5 software fulfills our promise to deliver integrated production systems that embrace the cloud,” said Steve Ellis, Broadcast Pix CEO. “Cloud-based content continues to become more important in the live production environment. Whether it’s a Skype video interview, a last-minute graphic from a designer across the country, or even Tweets, Broadcast Pix makes it easy to ingest and manage content – and then include that content on the air without lip sync or formatting issues.”

V3.5 is a free upgrade for all Granite and Mica systems under warranty, and is available as a paid upgrade or with a warranty extension for systems that are out of warranty. Customers should contact the Broadcast Pix sales team for more information.
