Latest Version of Digital Nirvana’s Powerful Broadcast Monitoring System Now Available

SmartSearch, SmartAlerts, Variable Speed Playback, and Intuitive GUI Set it Apart from Other Monitoring Systems

Fremont, CA – Digital Nirvana announces shipment of Monitor IQ 4.0, the latest version of its broadcast monitoring software. Monitor IQ is an in-house logging and compliance monitoring solution for traditional broadcasting media. Version 4.0 made its debut at the NAB convention this past April in Las Vegas. It is available for download and will ship on new units as of July 15, 2014.

New features within Version 4.0 include: SmartSearch, SmartAlerts, transport
stream recording, variable speed speed playback, enhanced editing, and an Monitor IQ 4.0improved, easy-to-use user interface.

“With these new features, we’ve solidified Monitor IQ’s position as the smartest monitoring solution in the industry with the most rapid return on investment,” said Arco Groenenberg, director of sales and marketing for Broadcast Products, Digital Nirvana. “Based on our close customer relationships, we’ll keep pushing the envelope and bring more broadcast-centric functionality to Monitor IQ.”

The new SmartSearch feature is a highlight of Version 4.0 and sets Monitor IQ apart from other broadcast monitoring systems. With SmartSearch users can search by date, time, and channel as well as by key words in the close caption, alert reports, as-run and traffic logs.  Expression searches enable simultaneous keyword searches in the As Run log and closed captioning sections. Monitor IQ’s Boolean search capability makes it easier to define the search by adding AND, OR, + within search terms.  This allows the user to search for captions that contain two words, i.e. Clinton AND Obama.  The results are contained within a summary list with a hyperlink to the video content.

SmartAlerts, also new to Version 4.0, can be customized based upon the channel, time of day, duration, and choice of error such as a missing closed caption, loss of video or audio, loudness, etc. Users can set up custom profiles with specific preferences that, depending upon the application, are searchable by time, date and alarm profile.

The new variable speed playback option allows for playback at speeds such as Monitor IQ-Alarms2x, 4x, 1/2x, and -2x, for example. It enables faster operations during legal reviews, ad verification, content review and repurposing applications.

Enhanced editing provides the user the ability to produce frame-accurate cut clip edits. Users can produce cut-clips on live or previous recordings, which allows for quick turn around when repurposing and editing content.

Digital Nirvana to Present at the NAB Show Enterprise Computing PIT

Session will focus on advanced broadcast monitoring for today’s

video delivery ecosystems

Newark, CA – Digital Nirvana announces plans to speak at the 2013 NAB Show’s Enterprise Computing PIT, a destination pavilion on the show floor designed to provide attendees with an intimate meeting place to learn about new tools playing an ever-expanding role in the world of media and entertainment. The presentation will focus on advanced monitoring for the SONY DSCbroadcast infrastructure and will take place on Monday, April 8 at 3:45 pm.

At the NAB Show, which runs April 8-11, the Enterprise Computing PIT will be located at Booth N6621 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. During the conference, Digital Nirvana will exhibit its broadcast suite of content repurposing and monitoring solutions, including its latest version of Monitor IQ, in Booth N3434.

Digital Nirvana’s CEO, Hiren Hindocha, will co-present with Fereidoon Khosravi, Senior Vice President of Business Development, Venera Technologies. The two companies formed a strategic partnership last year that allows Digital Nirvana to leverage Venera’s quality control and test and measurement components with Digital Nirvana’s flagship Monitor IQ broadcast monitoring solution.

Hindocha and Khosravi will discuss how monitoring systems must mirror the increasing sophistication of the broadcast plants in which they reside. And they will address why high-quality monitoring and analyzing of digital video and audio signals is so important for broadcasters today. No longer should multiple operators have to run between disparate computers to track different broadcast parameters.  The ability to cross reference all on-site and off-site systems within an enterprise, harvest metadata, drill down and take action on any issue – all from one central user interface – is what’s expected from a monitoring system today.

Among broadcasters increasingly complex set of monitoring requirements: delivery to more channels, creating a cohesive and revenue-generating mobile and online platform, and providing signals that comply with closed captioning and loudness Fereidoon-Khosraviregulations.

The most advanced monitoring systems can combine signal-monitoring, loudness monitoring, aircheck-logging, archiving, diagnostics/QC, and competitive analysis in one scalable, networked solution.

“Speaking about advanced broadcast monitoring in the context of the larger video delivery ecosystem is a great opportunity for us,” said Hiren Hindocha, president and CEO of Digital Nirvana. “At Digital Nirvana, our focus is to offer our clients an efficient broadcast monitoring system that simplifies their monitoring workflow, helps to reduce operational costs, and easily adapts to evolving broadcast environments. I’m looking forward to being a part of this presentation in NAB Enterprise Computing PIT.”

NAB2013: Digital Nirvana to Show Monitoring Software and Content Repurposing Solution

Broadcast Monitoring Software includes: Flexible Archiving, Real-time Newscast Exporting, and H.264 Support

Newark, CA– Digital Nirvana’s latest version of software for its flagship broadcast monitoring product, Monitor IQ, will make its U.S. debut at the NAB2013 convention (Booth N3434) from April 8-11th at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Loudness Monitoring on iPad JPEGMediaPro IQ content repurposing solution will also be shown at the Digital Nirvana booth.

“We’re very excited about this upcoming NAB show,” said Hiren Hindocha, president and CEO of Digital Nirvana. “Our products are unique in the market and offer capabilities and cost savings that customers are demanding.”

Monitor IQ, for example, is the only broadcast monitoring system that provides centralized management, automatic ad detection, a director’s audio track, as well as an advanced metadata harvester™.  Monitor IQ combines the functionality of content recording (HD and SD in full resolution), content searching, retrieve and repurposing, Web publishing, signal monitoring, air-check logging, archiving, ad verification and tracking, and competitive analysis in a scalable networked appliance.

The latest software includes several features that are a direct result of customer feedback received since the last version was released at IBC 2012. Among the new, customer-suggested features are: flexible content archiving, real-time newscast exporting, and H.264 video format support.

“Each of the features comes directly from customer input,” said Hindocha. “We’ve listened to what our customers tell us they need in a broadcast monitoring solution and created a tool that’s tailor made to address their requirements.”

Because the platform is based on open web services (REST) API’s, Digital Nirvana’s software can be easily integrated with third party products and can scale from one to multiple servers and from one to hundreds of channels. All Digital Nirvana solutions are web enabled, so users can access the software through any standard web browser without ActiveX component.

Another feature that will be demonstrated at NAB is Monitor IQ’s loudness monitoring and audio logging capability, including OEM software licensed from Minnetonka Audio Software, Inc. Loudness monitoring is bundled as a standard feature within Monitor IQ essentials, plus and premium versions. Minnetonka Audio’s AudioTools Loudness Measurement module enables Monitor IQ users to measure audio levels, perform quality control monitoring, record and log broadcast signals.

Another unique feature within the Monitor IQ Premier package is the Advanced Metadata HarvesterTM functionality which provides the ability to track any data the system logs and collects from alarms or from the broadcast feed. It can locate where the error occurred in the broadcast signal, collect forensic analysis about the event, and report that data back to the customer. It provides access to the data and to the mapping point of when, where and how that video was recorded.  This new feature dynamically enhances broadcast discrepancy reporting by allowing station executives and engineers to MediaPro 3 7 13hyperlink straight to the reported video and view a problem or issue.

The system has been divided into four packages so that a wide range of broadcasters can take advantage of the company’s technology.

Monitor IQ Starter

This entry-level package offers all the logging functionality necessary for a one- to two-channel system and includes 90 days of low-resolution storage.Searching is based upon keywords, titles, subtitles, descriptions, textual metadata, closed-caption text and imported logs, with filtering by time, date and channel. Recordings can be easily edited, clipped, stored and sent via email or FTP.

Monitor IQ Essentials

Monitor IQ Essentials is a logging and monitoring system that includes all the functionality necessary for broadcasters to ensure regulatory compliance. It includes support for IP as an input source, and loudness monitoring is now bundled in as a standard feature within the package.

Monitor IQ Plus

Monitor IQ Plus includes all of the features found within Essentials and adds several advanced enhancements such as the ability to connect and control Monitor IQ via an iPad, iPhone, or Android interface. This mobile feature makes it easy for field sales reps to show clients their ad content in the context of the broadcast programming.

Monitor IQ Premier

The Premier package extends beyond the capabilities found in the other packages with innovative, new features, such as: ad detection, directors audio track; integration with third party routers and multi-viewers, and advanced metadata harvesting.

MediaPro IQ

The MediaPro IQ content repurposing system for multi-platform distribution offers a low-cost way to repurpose HD clips from cable as well as broadcast. This new solution records encrypted cable feeds in full HD and is ideal for news and sports directors who frequently repurpose content from cable channels. For the broadcast engineer, it eliminates the need to maintain multiple set top boxes, frees up valuable rack space, and removes the cost of multiple DVRs.

MediaPro IQ allows users to easily edit, clip and publish live or recorded content in real-time.  Search is based on keywords, program titles, descriptions, textual metadata, closed-caption, as-run logs, traffic logs, alarm and discrepancy logs and time/date or channel filters.

MediaPro IQ is compatible with such web browsers as: FireFox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Chrome. iPad, iPhone, and Android interface are also available. Video can be exported to Flash, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, and XDCAM and other formats for content repurposing.

MediaPro IQ is a cost-effective, all-in-one scaled network device based on open API’s for easy integration into other systems. It also reliably records from IP, ASI, ASI/IP, SD/HD-SDI, ATSC, QAM, NTSC, PAL or DVB-T/C/S2 protocols.

Fisher Communications Deploys Monitor IQ from Digital Nirvana for Loudness and Compliance Monitoring

Stations Monitor Compliance Issues Independently, but Group Management can also Perform Remote Checks

image002-7Newark, CA – Fisher Communications, Inc. [NASDAQ:FSCI], a Seattle-based broadcast communications and media company, announced that Digital Nirvana’s Monitor IQ Essentials 3.0 is the station group’s chosen platform for regulatory compliance and loudness monitoring.

Monitor IQ provides Web-based, HD/SD channel monitoring, logging, compliance, and diagnostics/QC, as well as archiving of content recordings for up to 90 days. Monitor IQ Essentials is one of four versions designed to tailor Monitor IQ to the varying requirements of broadcasters.

“So far, we’ve installed Monitor IQ at three of our stations, including KOMO-TV4 in Seattle and KATU in Portland, OR in 2011, and KBAK-TV in Bakersfield, CA this year. Our plan is to eventually deploy it across the entire station group,” said Lee Wood, regional director of engineering for Fisher Communications, in Seattle, WA, which operates 13 full power and seven low power television stations across the U.S.

To verify regulatory compliance or diagnose technical issues on the recorded air-checks, Monitor IQ lets station engineers and operators watch HD video and listen to individual audio channels to check the quality their viewers experienced during the live broadcast.

They can also double-check the presence of vital metadata, such as closed captions, the Nielsen NAVE II Watermark, and picture identifier data (PID) embedded in the transport stream, as well as loudness levels now regulated by the U.S. CALM Act.

“All of our stations will use Monitor IQ primarily for regulatory compliance and loudness monitoring of our off-air HD and SD DTV channels,” Wood added. “Also, should a question ever arise as to whether a commercial spot ran as scheduled, Monitor IQ lets us to create a Windows Media video clip of the ad in the context of the programming to prove it ran as planned. Having this capability protects and preserves strong customer relations, revenues, and our credibility.”

While each Fisher station will manage and maintain its own compliance air-checks independently, station group management can check anything in any of their stations’ Monitor IQ databases remotely.

With its Web-based access and intuitive search tools, Monitor IQ ensures that any desired video segment will be readily accessible, easy to find, and viewable from any browser. Searching is based upon keywords, titles, subtitles, descriptions, textual metadata, closed-caption text and imported logs, with filtering by time, date and channel. Recordings can be easily edited, clipped, stored and sent via email or FTP.

“With mandates related to loudness levels, closed captioning, and other regulations, broadcasters need capable, scalable solutions designed to monitor their off-air signals for compliance,” said Ned Chini, vice president of sales and marketing for Digital Nirvana. “Monitor IQ also serves as a quality control solution that automatically logs technical issues, such as dropped audio or missing closed captions, and provides links to the video for easier access and review. We’re extremely pleased that Fisher Communications has entrusted their regulatory compliance and loudness monitoring to Monitor IQ.”
